Our Refurbished Grades and Guidlines

At EOL Online, we like to offer as wide a choice of product as possible and, to ensure you have a better understanding, we have a simple five point grading structure to guide you through your purchase.

New Retail

Direct from some of the world's largest manufacturers and distributors of high quality technology.

Will be supplied with the manufacturers own warranty 

As New

These products will usually be from the following groups

  • Overstock: Where a company has over ordered equipment, it has been held in stock for replacements, spares or just in case. These will be older models but will be unused, in original packaging and with all accessories
  • Open Box: These will be older models but will be unused. These may not be in their original packaging and, some accessories may be missing but, these will be noted in the product description. Examples may include: Customer returns (non-fault) or cancelled orders

These products will be offered at much lower prices than their original retail price.

Grade A Refurbished Products

The majority of our products will fall into this category, because we believe in the quality of the products and our processes, we will use many of these in our office rather than buying new kit!

  • No broken/missing parts
  • Minimal cosmetic marks, there may be the odd scuff/scrape/scratch on the casing
  • Integrated keyboards and pointing devices may have some light “shine”
  • Integrated screens will have no blemishes/scratches/pressure marks/dead pixels
  • Supplied with appropriate UK power cable and/or adapter
  • Monitors will also be supplied with an appropriate video cable
  • We do not guarantee battery life on refurbished devices but all main batteries will hold a good charge (older batteries in older models tend to have a shorter runtime)

In addition to these visual checks carried out by our fully trained engineers, we complete a raft of technical diagnostic checks to ensure your machine is fully operational and ready for you to unbox and get moving with your “new” refurbished equipment.

 The diagnostics include

Processor

Validates if all processors are functioning and initialized by the BIOS

Memory

Runs algorithms on memory which include March LR, Random Address, and Data Pattern plus additional test cases.

Hard Drive

Monitors drive attributes and determines if drive reaches its threshold.

SMART Check + Short DST Check.

AC Adapter

Tests to determine if the AC power adapter is functioning properly.

Audio

Tests the system audio subsystem functions, including audio controllers and codecs.

Battery

Checks battery data and determines if battery is working properly.

Bluetooth

Checks for the detection of the Bluetooth module.

Fan

Determines if the fans are functioning properly at the correct speed and maintaining the correct temperature.

Keyboard

Test to check each key on the keyboard.

Mouse

Test checking the pointer and drag/drop functions.

Network – Wired

Checks the network controller for cable connection and an IP address obtained via DHCP.

Network – Wireless Module

Reads the BIOS information regarding the status of the WLAN controller.

System Board

Accesses, lists, and verifies communication with all PCI devices. Checks internal bus lanes, memory, video memory, audio and USB.

Touchscreen

Test checks touch screen response.

USB Ports

Tests the connectivity of the USB ports.

Video Memory

Tests the video controller subsystem.

Video Palette

Tests the colour values.

Webcam

Test to detect a connected webcam.

 

This is not an exhaustive list of the test and checks carried out on the machines that leave our facility with an EOL Online badge but it shows you that we make every effort to ensure that you get a fully working piece of equipment at a fraction of it’s original cost.

Grade B Refurbished Products

We will also offer, at a bargain price, some items that have slightly heavier signs of use. None of these will impair their functionality and they’ll also come at lower prices

  • No broken/missing parts
  • Moderate signs of use, scratches, small dents and dings
  • Integrated keyboards and pointing devices may have more noticeable “shine”
  • Integrated screens will have no blemishes/scratches/pressure marks/dead pixels
  • Supplied with appropriate UK power cable and/or adapter
  • Monitors will also be supplied with an appropriate video cable
  • We do not guarantee battery life on refurbished devices but all main batteries will hold a good charge (older batteries in older models tend to have a shorter runtime)

Clearance

These are items we are just looking to clear from our shelves to make way for more exciting stock. Any information regarding cosmetic condition, working order, accessories and warranty will be detailed individually with each item.
